Production of the one-millionth glulam beam and a power upgrade for the “Rotopress” rotary press at the Abtenau site marked two milestones for Weinberger in the first quarter of this year.
Ten years have passed since Weinberger made a virtue out of necessity and purchased a “Rotopress” following a major fire at its Salzburg plant. The investment in this powerful, flexible and compact pressing solution has certainly paid off. One million glulam beams have been produced to date over the last decade. That alone would have been reason enough to celebrate. But in fact there is a second reason. As part of a comprehensive and now completed renovation project at the Abtenau site, the company has also invested in the extensive modernisation of its rotary press. Managing Director and shareholder Johann Alfred Weinberger: “Specifically, we have doubled the number of lateral pressure holding clips and brought them up in line with cutting edge technology. At the same time, the entire hydraulic system of the plant has been renewed. This now works more than 50 percent faster than before. This results in even shorter cycle times and an even better quality.” Or to put it another way: a further chapter has been added to Weinberger’s best-of-wood story.
